Experimental fire response of seismic elastomeric bearings

The paper presents the results of an experimental campaign conducted with aim to evaluate fire behaviour unprotected and protected seismic elastomeric bearings installed inside actual building. In particular, one two natural rubber were tested under ISO 834 heating curve. protection was made blankets based on alkaline earth silicate wools (AES) different thickness, i.e. 100 mm 125 mm. tests performed by applying a constant vertical load equal 900 kN diameter 400 mm, applied stress less than 10 MPa. highlighted that bearing met resistance requirement 60 min before loss load-bearing capacity owing degradation mechanical properties at elevated temperature, whereas could satisfy 90 min. A comprehensive description outcomes, also include characterisation residual post-fire properties, is thoroughly reported in paper.
